ASTRA's Best Toys for Kids award program reflects the collective expertise of hundreds of toy retailers who know toys inside out. The 18 winning products were voted on by ASTRA member retailers as the best in toys that represent the fun, top-quality, high-play-value products found in locally-owned neighborhood toy stores across the country.

The Oppenheim Toy Portfolio was founded in 1989 as the only independent consumer review of children's media. The organization does not charge entry fees or accept ads from manufacturers. Award-winning products are selected by a noted expert in child development, children's literature, and education, and further tested by an objective panel of kid judges. Judging criteria include kid-testers' responses along with expert assessment of educational and play value, safety, age appropriateness and other factors.

Established by respected speech and language expert Sherry Artemenko, the PAL Award recognizes exceptional toys, games and books that, through their design, content, quality, and character, promote play that advances language. PAL winners in the hands of kids spark fun and creative play with lots of talk!

Founded in 1978, Parents' Choice is the nation's oldest nonprofit consumer guide to quality children's books, toys, music and more. The Parents' Choice Award seals are recognized throughout the country as the premier mark of achievement in the children's media industry. The Parents' Choice Silver Honors are given to excellent products that are designed to entertain and help children develop universally ethical attitudes, and rigorous standards and skills.
